when i read things like this i get really confused.
I wonder what has happened in the persons life that made them
lose all aspects of their common sense.
This is just the definition of "Stupid people looking into things WAAAAY too much"

Enjoy! :D

Offensive License Plate in Arkansas
An Arkansas driver is complaining about a letter combination on a license plate issued to her.
She says the letter combination suggested the "n" word.
Many states use the arrangement of three numbers and three letters on vehicle license plates. Most are nonsensical.

But when Alice Kunce got her new license plate, she found the letter combination of NGR offensive and would not put it on her car.

The Arkansas office of motor vehicles says it has pulled the plate series. It says it has already issued 17 versions of the plate. Those plates will *not* be recalled.

OK so I'm attempting an IRL update, for posterity's sake.

1. Things have been going great at work.. I've transitioned from doing my usual building code/legal nerdery into design related work. My responsibilities are now pretty much 50/50. This means I get to
-go to schools, visit them, take pictures, make recommendations for work, and exercise my writing ability writing these recommendations (to get the ca$h money to build)
-generate plans of existing schools on Autocad, using existing scans of very very old plans as raster images for tracing, while reconciling this with field measurements (this is an excellent activity for someone with novice CAD skills to get caught up with)
-create construction plans for work that must be done - for now its auditorium renovations (which are challenging from handicap accessibility point of view). Learning project organization, sheet sets, Xreferencing (this means nothing to 95% of readers here), specifications writing,
-I have a GREAT CAD mentor, and a great Building Codes mentor, and I'm VERY lucky to work with the people I do, it leaves room for beginners mistakes and learning.
-My friends at work area also part of a loosely defined Strategic Gaming club, which can include at any given time Magic: The Gathering, Warhammer 40k, and various ruthless strategic business games (which i seem to be excelling at).

So work is awesome. The beauracracy - meh - but the people - wow. And even though the work I'm doing now is menial, I know in my heart of hearts I was born to do this (on larger scales, obviously). One of my best friends at work, when we were hanging out at Columbus Circle after an architecture crit gave me one of those stern pep talks that stays with you. Basically my logistical problems with schooling are no good reason to not allow myself to think like an architect, to be an architect, starting now (he started introducing me to others at NYIT, his alum school, as an architect and I nearly had a bloody nervous breakdown from it).

2. On the not so good front, I got in a loosely-related construction accident. I'm an idiot, it was my fault, I think I may have broken my shin or at least acquired something called 'compartment syndrome' due to tibia impact, its been a week and it hurts a lot still and my leg is all kinds of blue. Not going to fall off but I'm keeping an eye on it, ibuprofen and ice, I may actually see a doctor later this afternoon or this weekend. Which is inconvenient, because

3. WE'RE MOVING! (argh) I still don't have the requisite $3000-4000 that it takes to move properly in NYC, so we're subletting for a while, honestly that goal isn't too far away. I was worried we'd be homeless until

4. We found a great sublet.... In the Bronx.. I managed to find the ONE goth chick in the Bronx who is an awesome conceptual artist and is out of town teaching. I knew the place would be an epic win when we saw the Star Wars stickers and found the living room covered in paintings and the kitchen has Jay and Silent Bob blueprints on the wall.

It's near 204th Street, in the Norwood section, which is tree-lined. A bit overrun with loud and sometimes surly youth, but according to the sublessee's friend, who works as a clerk down teh block and showed up in a Spiderman shirt to show us the apartment "These guys are all pussies. I know. I grew up with them. I remember getting their asses kicked in high school. They can't really mess with me, because I'm like, dude, I know who your mom is. "

It's actually really nice up there (its past the clusterfuck of Fordham and the Grand Concourse) and a few blocks from the Botanical Garden. We're subletting for August. It's going to be nice.

4. I have managed to sort out 11,000 (yes... eleven thousand photos) In Picasa on my machine. By date, people in them, location, etc. and I got a Flickr Pro account. So I'm going to start posting a lot of photos, pretty soon... I'm pretty excited. MP3s are next (over 80 gigs, but would you believe I desperately need new music)

OK times up, tahts all I can update for now

NZ/Australia Dates... ? (nov/dec) attn fotogs n peeps!

Jul. 25th, 2008 | 11:32 am
posted by: [info]kumimonster

Right now I have 3 events confirmed for New Zealand and Australia.
The first is the Southern Exposure Weekend and the New Zealand FetishBall in Christchurch (Nov 14-16).
The second is a smaller party in Sydney on the 21st of November (Hellfire)
The last one is in Melbourne and takes place the 29th of November.
I'll be performing with [info]fd_midori and each performance will be a different show :)

I will be returning to Sydney after the Melbourne event to fly back to San Francisco but not sure if I'll stay a bit longer (I think by the end of the trip i'll either want to get back to Cali or head home after so much traveling!)

So I'm trying to figure out which dates I will be traveling to/from cities in Australia.
How many days will I need for shoots, hanging out, sleeping, etc.

The sooner i can figure these out, the sooner i can book the flights before they get too costly.

i'm not looking for TFP. Although i have a lot of fun with it, this is my job and the way i pay for rent (and latex!)

if you're interested, please write as soon as u can and also do say which city is best! (saying "australia" doesn't help me as it's kind of big!)

See Me

Yesterday I went to see the tabú_standing on the edge of the wilderness show by the nofit state circus. What a fun and unusual experience! Most of the show was in the air, with things going on all around the tent everywhere you turned, and the crowd could just move around wherever they wanted beneath the performers. There were guides telling people when they needed to move to make space for performances on the ground. As always when I see circus shows and acrobats, I was in awe of everyone's flexibility and physical strength and it all made me want to run away and join the circus.

I was vaguely amused on leaving the show at the end and hearing a woman say in a rather haughty voice that she felt it was "a bit seedy" when the whole theme of the show was the darker side of human nature. Though 'seedy' wouldn't be the word I would use. It was more a slightly surreal/dreamy macabre feeling, where I couldn't quite tell what was making it feel that way (possibly a lot to do with the music and slow narration and eye contact between the performers). I like that.

And... another pic from the shoot in Dublin:

I love the intensity of the black around the eyes, and the shadows on the collar bones. Very cool shoot :)

I still have a few dresses and other accessories I need to post as well, so keep checking back for new things.
